The decision to host the competition in South Alezia was made after an agreement by all of the previously participating stations to give the hosting rights to South Alezia in order to advertise the region more. This is also to "train" South Alezian stations in case that South Alezia was given the rights to host an international-scale production like the Worldvision Song Contest, where a future bid for Doorsbreeken is (as of the writing of this article) being discussed.

Due to the ever increasing number of regions (now sub-regions) participating from 9 to 24, the two-song-per-region rule was erased for a one-song only. And to the recommendation from international advisors to the Alezian Broadcasting Authority, the competition introduced semifinals for the first time where 24 songs should either be divided into 12-song or 6-song semi. However, even as of 24th of February, the semifinal method wasn't announced yet.
For the first time in ARFOS' history, the competition is estimated to be held in June due to preparation issues on the initial process by the South Alezians.

AleziRadio Festival of Songs 2022 will be the sixty-fifth edition of the annual AleziRadio Festival of Songs. It will be held in Doorsbrekenstad by the authorities of Radio Doorsbreeken. This is the first festival to be held in South Alezia and the first time (excluding Zafizamarrah in 1958) that a debuting region (Doorsbreeken) hosted the festival. This is also the first time that a winning region (excluding the first edition) didn't host the event.
