The Third Battle of Palapa is an ongoing military confrontation between the Military Council for Patriotic Reconstruction (MCPR) and Palekana armed groups in and around Palapa. The battle began on 4 May when the MCPR launched an attack on the town with the purpose of expelling the local Palekana unit that was occupying it. Palapa was previously occupied by the Eosia Islands National Liberation Front, who controlled the town after the First Battle of Palapa against government forces. Since the Second Battle of Palapa, fighters of the Palekana movement have held the town.

Battle

Fighting began on 4 May 2022 during the early hours of the morning as an estimated 60 MCPR fighters, supported by technicals, attacked a Palekana roadblock guarding the main road into the town. Fighting continued into the late afternoon, with the MCPR controlling the southern portion of Palapa.
