The El Haraqi Incident (in Arabic ; حادثة الحراقي) is a military incident which occurred in the town of El Haraqi, 20 kilometers northeast of Jadhab, Salamat in the afternoon of September 13 1985. 219 were killed and 917 were injured.

The incident occured at 4:28 pm local time (5:28 pm UTC), 13 planes, led by the officer Abd Al Fatah Karimi, launched their bombs on the city of El Haraqi. out of the 25 bombs, 19 exploded and did considerable damage. The other 6 bombs created holes in various parts of the city. The initial target was a fake city built just 4 kilometers east of El Haraqi for the purpose of testing the bombs.

The bombings affected the local hospital, the daira headquarters, a middle school and a cinema.



The incident created a magnitude 3.9 earthquake in the surroundings.
