The Gallambrian Operational Service Medal is a campaign medal established on 16 September 2014 to recognise service by HM Armed Forces personnel on designated hazardous operations. It may also be awarded to civilians who service alongside the Armed Forces on designated operations under specific conditions.
The medal is issued to military personnel with a different ribbon for each designated operation. When issued to civilians, a standard ribbon is issued with clasps issued for each designated operation.
Overview
The Gallambrian Operational Service Medal is a campaign medal established by Royal Warrant on 16 September 2014. This campaign medal was instituted as general replacement for the Gallambrian Active Service Medal and the General Service Medal, as well as provide recognition for operational service that does not warrant a specific campaign medal. It is awarded as either a Military or Civilian variant.
Military variant
The military variant of the medal has a standard medal design, ribbons vary by operation, or operation type. An accumulated service device will be awarded for subsequent qualifying service by Armed Forces personnel where they undertake further service on an operation for which they have already been awarded the Gallambrian Operational Service Medal.
Ribbons
To date, five ribbons have been established:
- - Bashan Truce Supervision ribbon - awarded for service on declared truce supervision operations
- - Border Protection ribbon - awarded for service on declared border protection operations
- - Counter-Piracy ribbon - awarded for service on declared counter-piracy operations
- - Expeditionary Forces ribbon - awarded for service on operations where no specific campaign medal is awarded
- - TRIDENT ribbon - awarded for service on TRIDENT-led war-like operations
Civilian variant
The Gallambrian Operational Service Medal (Civilian) was established to allow for recognition of Defence and Other Government Civilians and Public Servants, who were employed under the provisions of the Armed Forces Act of 1982, in order to support the operations of a deployed military force in a declared area of operations. The civilian variant uses the same medal design as the military variant, but is awarded with a unique ribbon, and a clasp(s) denoting the declared operation.
