This article lists the political parties of Albeinland.

History

There always was a strong two-party system in Albish politics that still is present up to modern times. After the Magnanimous Revolution and the unification of Albeinland, two groups arose and dominated the commonwealth for almost 200 years: the conservative Cavaliers, who came from the regional aristocracy in the previous maritime republics and states of the Albish League, and the liberal Oxfords, who were mainly composed by merchants, traders and members of the crescent bourgeoise. The Oxfords dominated every aspect of commonwealth until 1732 when the Cavaliers successfully managed to overthrown the republic and established a monarchy. During this period, the Cavalier Party divided into republican and monarchist groups, with the last one being defeated in the Albish Spring in 1784. Later, both Oxfords and Cavaliers reformed themselves into the Liberal and Conservative parties respectively, dominating Albish politics in the 19th and early-20th centuries. With the born of the Albish labour movement, the Progressive Republican League was founded, replacing the liberals in the political scene, while the conservatives reformed themselves into the United Conservative Party in the 20s.
