The People's Liberation Army (PLA) is the armed forces of the People's Republic of Yuan and the armed wing of the PRY's founding and ruling political party, the Communist Party of Yuan. Besides the Central Military Commission (CMC) and several minor units directly under it, the PLA has five major service branches: the Ground Force (PLAGF), Navy (PLAN), Air Force (PLAAF), Rocket Force (PLARF), and the Strategic Support Force (PLASSF). A majority of military units around the country are assigned to one of five theater commands by geographical location. The PLA is the world's largest military force (not including paramilitary or reserve forces) and constitutes the second largest defense budget in the world. It is also one of the fastest modernizing militaries in the world, and has been termed as a potential military superpower, with significant regional defense and rising global power projection capabilities.

Naval vessels in the Yuan Navy utilize the ship prefix JIN, meaning People's Liberation Vessel in Yuaneze, and JAI, meaning People's Ship of Liberation. The Navy is comprised of four aircraft carriers, 43 destroyers, 52 cruisers, 44 frigates, 27 submarines, and dozens of patrol vessels.
Aircraft carriers
The Yuaneze Navy has four operational aircraft carriers, all domestically produced Liao-class aircraft carriers. The Liao-class is equipped with short take-off and vertical landing (STOVL) aircraft and helicopters, and the ship is powered by four gas turbines offering a sustained power of 81,000 hp (60 MW). Driving two shafts the ship has a maximum speed of 30 knots (56 km/h; 35 mph) and can travel for 7,000 nautical miles (13,000 km; 8,100 mi) at around 20 knots (37 km/h; 23 mph).
Destroyers
The Yuan Navy operates the Chen-class, Xining-class, and Qihin-class destroyers, which operate in the defense of naval forces (plus assets ashore) from aircraft and missile attack, while also operating in anti-surface, anti-submarine, and naval gunfire support roles.
