| Arguello was founded in 1968 by the Madorian government. It initially focused primarily on supplying military aircraft to the [[Madorian Air Force]], but by the 1980s began producing a series of successful commercial aircraft. The company was privatized in 1994 and began expanding to the production of larger airliners and smaller business jets; it became public in 2002.
