The Imperial Truth is an anthropocentric universal law, philosophy, and religion based on the life and teachings of Emperor Otto of Derthalen. Its adherents, known as Imperial Truthers, believe that humans are the supreme beings of universe, and engage in widespread veneration of the dead, worshipping emperors and other great historical figures. The Imperial Truth's central religious text is the Cornerstones of Imperial Truth, a four line document holding that:
Man is great and above all other things.
Man must rule all and shape all to his liking.
Man must strive for reason and enlightenment.
All men are greater than gods, let them each regard the other as such.
The Imperial Truth is the state religion of Derthalen, and is almost universally followed amongst the 29 million residents of that nation. There are also significant Imperial Truther communities in a number of former Derthaler colonies, most notably Faramount, where the religion has over 1.75 million followers. The Imperial Truth also has a major offshoot in Faramount, the Cult of Christ, which has some fourteen million followers, but is formally considered to be heresy.
