TV (Chinese: 电视 Diànshì) is a villain and member of the Darkstar Dodecahedron and Nemesis of Mirage.

Design

The most striking part of TV's appearance is his namesake head, which is an antique television from the 1940s-1950s. When he is awake, the screen shows a pair of large, black ovals as eyes and a similarly cartoonish mouth. When he is asleep, his screen shows static. Being a Caucasian man, he is reasonably tall, taller than many main characters. He wears a suit consisting of a black tailcoat over a black vest and a white shirt, with a dark blue tie and black trousers and blue dress shoes with black soles. His mark of the Darkstar is on the side of his head.

Personality

TV appears as a jovial and energetic man most of the time, but is ruthless and cunning while at work. He is deceitful and sadistic, particularly taking pleasure in watching his opponents and victimes despair just after they had been given hope. While the nature of his powers and his decades experience of dealing out fear has made him arrogant and overconfident at times, he can be more analytical than he appears to be. He likes to use phrases stereotypical of villains in works from or set in the 1920s to 1940s in his speech.

He considers himself a professional and would not bother superheroes or even civilians when he is "off the clock".

History

TV was a physicist from the 1920s who was working in a top-secret US Government project concerning interdimensional travel. During one of the experiments where he was present, an accident lead to him accidentally being teleported into the Realm of Dread. Lost and confused, he wandered accross the alien land until he came across a bright yellow castle. There, he met the Sad Devil, who subjected him to torture for what would approximately be the equivalent of a year in his own universe for the Horror's amusement. By this point, his sanity had already been all but a tiny shred. This tiny shred, however, was enough for him to offer a deal. He would be spared from more agony in return for carrying out the Sad Devil's will on Earth. The Sad Devil agreed, and turned TV into the Horror he is today, cursed to walk the planet for centuries, spreading fear for the mysterious and nefarious purposes of his otherworldly Lord of Terror.

Being a telepathic Soul Arsenal, Terror View allows TV to read and manipulate the minds of others, as well as mentally communicate with them.

The main ability Terror View provides is the ability to for the user to use his head as a gateway to summon manifestations of various phobias, tailored to the opponent or the situation at hand.

Abilities

Enhanced physique

TV is stronger and more agile than the average person.

Creation and Conception

TV was inspired by a creature from one of RMD's nightmares. The creature has a humanoid body and was wearing a suit, but the head of a rectangular object which he couldn't remember. An antique television set was decided because it was wider and thicker than a mirror, and it would make the character stand out more

His origin story was inspired by that of Professor Paradox from the cartoon series Ben 10 Alien Force and Lovecraftian horror.
