MalDef is a multinational defence corporation headquartered in Aurora, Malgrave. It is the primary supplier of the Malgravean armed forces, with the corporation directly responsible for designing and constructing equipment used by the Territorial Defence Force, Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force.
It has a large manufacturing presence in Aurora, Pakosc and Rensk, with these cities forming the industrial backbone of the nation. Pakosc is particularly proud of their connection to MalDef, and the largest football and baseball team in the city, the Pakosc Pioneers can trace their origins to a work team formed from a MalDef factory.
In recent years the company has branched out to producing vessels capable of travelling in space, with several units of exploratory science vessels and one cruiser variant under production for use by the Malgravean Armed Forces.
MalDef also has smaller facilities in Cerne and Luban, however, due to the current security situations only the facility in Luban is in partial operational condition.
Equipment designed by MalDef has performed admirably in a number of military operations post-war, with a notable example being Operation Infinite Reach and peacekeeping missions in Crystal Spires. It has resulted towards MalDef having a positive reputation in Malgrave, eve if careers at the company are slightly looked down upon by some engineers.
History
MalDef was originally founded in 1910 to produce small arms and relatively simple military products for the Malgravean military and lessen the need for imports, however, the heavy Imerian blockade of this era eventually required MalDef to branch out and construct more complicated items of equipment, with small tracklayers being constructed in the 20s and 30s to provide extra cover to troops during Imerian offences.
Shortly after the exodus, a partial reorganisation in MalDef shifted the efforts of the company to salvaging old military equipment to be used for civilian construction efforts and the long-term fate of the company was undetermined, as a result the MalDef works were frequently hit by wildcat strikes and other disruptive activities.
In 1938 this disruptive behaviour stopped, as the start of the Malgravean Civil War meant that the efforts of the company were rapidly refocused to arming the Territorial Defence Force and stabilising the front.
Between 1938 and 1983 MalDef constructed a variety of equipment for the Malgravean Armed Forces based on the requirements of the military. MalDef also constructed highly advanced exploratory submarines for the Ministry of Science and Engineering.
