History |
The Saterocian Armed Forces(FAS; Forces armées satérociennes) are the military forces of the Second Republic of Sateroc. In 2020, it was reported that Sateroc's post-revolution Armed Forces numbered at around 132,000, a significant decrease from 2015's estimate of nearly 540,000 soldiers. However, despite the decrease in troop numbers, Sateroc has yet to sell its surplus of military equipment purchased and manufactured during the Puoc regimes.
In recent years, Sateroc invaded the unrecognized nation of Saroq in 2014 in a swift military operation that proved the country's strength. In 2019, elements of the Armed Forces took part in a coup d'etat which overthrew late dictator Georg Puoc, with the military establishing a junta in its place. In 2023, fighting between the National Unity Army and the Armed Forces erupted as a failed coup d'etat in parts of the country devolved into a civil war, which ended in October of 2023 after an agreemenr between both sides. However, fighting continues between the Armed Forces and several smaller groups, most notably the Brotherhood of Kolkesburg and the Saroqi Front for Change and Liberation.
