The Federalist Party is a classical liberal and centralist political party in the United States of America, currently serving as its ruling party. Formed in 1789 by supporters of Alexander Hamilton and John Adams, the party has throughout its history been dominant in the wealthy and relatively urbanised north of the US, especially in New England. While historically protectionist, today, the party advocates for both cultural and economic liberalism, and for a pro-Western foreign policy. It is led de facto by the current US President, Miller G. Stockton.
