The Confederacy of Distan or colloquially Distan is a large sovereign state which prides itself in both its industrial might and technological prowess, especially in the fields of engineering and robotics. An immense quantity of its culture and economy is based on efficiency and maximising prosperity for both the state and the people in it which influences both its policies internally but also its policies externally which governs its efforts to modernise and industrialise its allies and neighbours. Despite its preference for stability it has a strong nationalistic culture with almost every citizen performing some form of national service ranging from enlisting in the reserves to working in a public service.
In its early history it was a trio of separate states that under the banner of the largest, Diastin united to form one larger state, Distan and since this unification the nation has reserved a strong since of unity and constantly strives to repeat the golden age that followed that unification.
Etymology
The name Distan is a changing of the name the largest of the 3 original kingdoms had pre unifications, Diastin. Where this name originated from is unknown as there are no artefacts or writings that can be dated when the kingdoms were formed, however some theorists suggest that they may have been named after objects of significance or they were translated names from an even older name.

Being one of the larger nations in Kalrania, Distan contains an abnormally low diversity of biomes. The overall climate of the Confederacy is cold and alpine with many mountains, alpine and sub alpine forests covering the large nation with the northern and eastern regions being the coldest with many mountains and the majority of the alpine forests. The south-western regions however are warmer with some of the few temperate regions and fens within the nation. Up until recently, the Distanic Confederacy has been a fairly isolationist state with many forts along its large boarders and little interest in the outside world, That was changed during the leadership of Prime Director Victor Statnik where the nation opened its gates and expanded its view of the open world.
Now the Confederacy enjoys many diplomatic relations with nations both near and far, the most fruitful being its relations with Dzeia

The Distanic Armed Korps consist of five primary branches: The GroundKorps, The NavalKorps, The AeroKorps, The GuardKorps and the UkrotynKorps. The GroundKorps are the ground based branch of the military covering all ground based operations
The current average spending of the GroundKorps rests at 300B which covers all the maintinance and expenditure of the nation during times of peace or small scale operations however during times of mobalisation the budget allocated to the GroundKorps is increased to 600B which has only been done once During the war against Cipher.

Dress
Thanks to the cold climate in Distan and the lack of divercity in species, the dress of the average Khazdiat is very universal with little to no difference in the attire for men or women. For both genders the average person wears a large overcoat commonly of dark colours with blues and greens being of good taste, Thick trousers and boots with those in a position of authority such as government officials commonly also wear pauldrons to signify their position as a government official.

Due to the cold climate that is common throughout the nation, the confederacy is generaly an urban nation with an architectural style that is influenced by the pragmatic and functional people that inhabit their cities.
The general shape that buildings take are geometric in design, with clearly defined walls either being boxy and angular or round and spherical, depending on the building. Many of these buildings are made of a grey stone brick locally known as Ashstone while the larger buildings are made from steel. One uniform feature of all buildings from small suburban houses to towering spires are their strong insulation against the cold which is a necessity due to the local climate.
