Etymology
From Primitive Menapian air ("carnage; death; destruction"), from Proto-Bythonic aɨr ("battle; carnage"), from Proto-Celtic *agrom ("slaughter; battle"). Cognate with Irish ár ("slaughter"), Scottish Gaelic àr ("slaughter") and Manx haar ("slaughter").
