Lüdwig I (Gollic: Louis; 12 December 1223 – 23 August 1278) was the first king of West Helderia who ruled from 1257 to 1278. Lüdwig was the second son of Chaburteen II, the last king of a unified Heldic nation until 1836.
Following violent wars between Lüdwig and his three brothers, Lüdwig was granted the West Heldic kingdom in the Treaty of Ambreux (1257).
In 1269, Lüdwig was crowned Emperor of Heldervin by Defender of the Faith Paulus III, on the basis that Chaburteen III was a follower of Heldic paganism, and Lüdwig was the next eldest son of Chaburteen II.
