LMQ-300 is a loitering munition operated by the Royal Joseon Armed Forces. It operates on land and sea platforms, and is a reusable munition after recovery. LMQ-300 is designed to attack radar systems and is optimised for the suppression of enemy air defences (SEAD) role.
Development
Design and features
LMQ-300 has a loiter (flying) time of 7 hours and a range of 210 km both ways. It is launched from ground or sea-based canisters, but can be adapted for air launch.
LMQ-300 is designed to attack an enemy's radar waves by automatically tracking them. But just in case enemies turn off their radars or LMQ-300 attacks other targets, LMQ-300 is equipped with AI with target selection and tracking algorithms. When an enemy turns off its radar, the LMQ-300's AI flies to the area where the enemy's radar radio waves are most recently detected, uses optical sensors to identify the enemy's radar and equipment, and automatically attacks them by comparing them to pre-populated enemy equipment data.
When it is necessary to attack targets such as ships, vehicles, or buildings, not radars, the LMQ-300's AI uses optical and radio tracking sensors to track targets according to information entered by humans before launch. The AI's algorithm is used to complete the entire process, and when a target is detected, LMQ-300 attacks the target with high accuracy.
