From Middle Arjanu هيوۏ - hiwo ("qalam, writing tool"), from Old Arjanu هيمو - himo ("anything long and thin"), from Aradeshi fimo, fimbo ("stick"), from Proto-Aradeshi *vimbo ("stick").
