The North Bardonian struggle for independence
Prelude
Since the 1600’s there Hansan presence in North Bardonia. By 1753 North Bardonia was under full control of the Hanson’s and a sizeable number of Hansans immigrated to North Bardonia to farm the very fertile land bordering the Sea. It was here that the Christian Faith wold gain a significant foothold in North Bardonia (under the Hansan Church a subdivision known as the Pontificate Church of North Bardonia) which would for a period of ten years (1792-1892) operated an Inquisition (Holy Tribunal for the Inquisition and Purification of North Bardonia). Additional in 1835 Hansa combined the territory’s of North Bardonia into one Colony (the Dominion of North Bardonia) under one Governor-General and one Director-General (of the Hansan North Bardonian Company, HNBC). Heading into the late 1800’s the formation of a unified resistance to colonial rule began; formation of small groups that would hijack railways and raid farms were rather common in the 1870’s. An unofficial guerrilla war would begin in 1882. At last, a unified revolutionary front would be forging unity 1891, the North Bardonian Army, made up of the native guerrilla fighters (Kommandos), trained city militias, and Hansan farmers the revolt had begun, led by the son of a University Professor and a trained strategists (served in the Hansan Army, rose to rank of Major, Edvark Leftenson.
Phases of the War
1889-1891
The early phase of the independence war looked the same to the Hansan Garrison. Farmers and Militiamen destroying Hansan depots and harassing Hansan Troops. This had been occurring since 1834, and would continue until wars end. The only difference is that the forces had organised under he command of revolutionary Edvark Leftenson and had begun organising these raids strategically against the Hansans.
By 1889 the war had evolved with the Governor-General dispatching a small detachment to chase down a group of these saboteurs close to Carthiada but were encircled by a larger Bardonian group and crushed, there guns and ammunition seized. Then a few months later at a fort just north of Carthiada which held hundreds of boxes of ammunition, prisoners and artillery was raided and captured with the attempts to recapture rebuffed by the Bardonian defenders.
In the later half of 1890 the fight continued with numerous minor skirmishes outside of Carthiada which were rather inconsequential to the whole front but what was to the Rebellion was a revolt in the far North. A group of 1000 farmers proclaimed loyalty to the Army of Bardonia and Edvark Leftenson under command of another defecting Hansan officer Tomas Cavel. Cavel began a similar guerrilla campaign to the one ongoing in the south.
In 1891 the Hansan Garrison and the Governor-General were desperately needing reinforcements to quell the rapidly expanding and advancing rebellion. They received General Robert Wilde and 5000 Troops that began marching southwards to relieve the forces of Carthiada in March. They arrived by late April with around 423 less men. Killed by a Militia of 200 and Dysentery.
In order to properly manage the territories annex by the forces of the Army of Bardonia Edvark appointed Paulus Claasen as Minister-President and gave him the task of keeping order in the territories and keeping Edvark armies fed and armed.
In April of 1892 the Army of Bardonia (as they called themselves) March with around 5,000 men to capture the city of Krondor and its surrounding areas. Here they met up with two Buchbachian ships (now officially the Royal Navy of North Bardonia) and 500 men and a huge number of artillery and both forces quickly captured the city which itself was in revolt.
At this point with Buchbachs ships and guns arming the rebellion the localized confict turned into an international affair with Additional Aid provided byTayichi,New Tussia and Biggonian Megaist Empire. Most of this aid was guns, ammunition, and some volunteers flowed into the country throughout 1893. The Campaign of 1893 was thusly more regulated as the Army of North Bardonia reorganized and distributed weaponry.
