Throughout much of the history of the Trihhimerein Peninsula, the Baron of Wälf was the direct feudal holder of the Barony of Wälf. The barony arose as a grant of land to one of the younger sons of the Lord of Helterium, or otherwise typically inherited via the direct male line. First created in 532 by Lord Lodovicius VI for his younger son Wællius (who later became the next lord), the title was recreated by Lord Lodovicius VII in 633, following the end of the Interregnum. The title would be created and recreated nine times in total, until 1562, when King Karl of Ambreux bestowed the title upon his younger son Wilhelm, who would pass the title on to his male-line descendants, who became known as the Wälf branch of the Castors.
House of Clossus
The first Barony of Wälf was created for Wællius, second son of Lord Lodovicius VI and younger brother of the heir Otius. This appanage served as the basis for several future rival claimants. However, the line was immediately extinguished with the Interregnum.

House of Deietrich-Johannes
This house descended from Lora I's second surviving son, Franz of Franseburg. Johannes I seized power and established the sixth Barony of Wälf in 1129, 32 years after its dissolution in 1097 by Lanzo. Johannes' male-line descendants retained their power until King Chaburteen II declared their feudal titles forfeited in the 1222 Figerbuun Massacre.

House of Horteny-Wälsse
In 1283, King Karl III of Horteny (one of the sons of Chaburteen II; Horteny was one of four successor states to Helderia) appointed his youngest child and only son, Hans, as the new Baron of Wälsse. This move placed, according to Hortenic law, Hans as unable to ascend to the Hortenic throne, and soon after ushered an era of war between Horteny and Searenland over succession.
