It is considered on of the premier hockey leagues in Sunalaya, and the largest professional sports league in Talvistova. The Lord's Cup, the longest continuously awarded trophy in Corentia, is awarded annually to the league's champion.
The league was formed at the Olympia Hotel on March 5th, 1940 immediately after the bankruptcy of it's predecessor, the National Hockey Alliance. It adopted it's top 4 teams, the Ljustad Ässät, HC Vita Hästen, Jokerit HC, and Fjarora BK, as well as it's championship, the Lord's Cup.
The league has had it's headquarters in Ljustad ever since it's formation in 1940.
The current Elite league Champions are the Orheim Admirals, who defeated the Lonlond Ice Tigers in 5 games to claim their 3rd cup.
