Aesculia has historically been home to myriad peoples and cultures due to its geographic position. In addition to the various ancient peoples dispersed throughout modern-day Aesculia, the most predominant being the [[Lazian]] peoples. A Lazian tribe known as the Aesculi formed the Aesculian Kingdom in the 9th century BC, which eventually became a republic with a government of the Senate and the People. From the formation of the Kingdom, Aesculia position itself as the main trading power in Plateia while developing its famous seafarer traditions.
