Alexei Mikhailovich Antipov (Votyalic: Алексей Михайлович Антипов, tr. Aleksey Mikhaylovich Antipov; b. 27 October 1991) is a Votyalic politician and a member of the Antipov and Primakov political families. Alexei is the grandson of former President Yevgeniy Primakov and former Prime Minister Alexander Antipov through his mother and father respectively, and first-cousin once removed of current President Andrey Primakov through his mother's family. Though his family historically has consisted of Constitutional Democratic Party members (or Kadets), Alexei is a member of center-left Progress, and served as Principal Private Secretary to Matryona Alliluyeva before and during her time as Leader of the Opposition against the Kadet government of Vitaliy Chernyaev. Alexei has been a Deputy of the State Duma since 2018.
Due to his close working relationship with now-Prime Minister Alliluyeva as well as his familial connections, Alexei has been tipped as a future cabinet minister. Though historically supporting Kadets, signs of family infrastructure shifting to support the freshman Deputy have been evident, with several companies and other organizations which supported Andrey Primakov's Presidential campaigns in 2015 and 2010 donating to the Antipov electoral fund in 2018. Politically, Alexei has been perceived as a moderate within Progress, though much of this reputation is attributed to him during his tenure as Private Secretary to Alliluyeva; since his election, he has taken left-wing positions on issues such as Votyalia's universal healthcare system and disagreed with a government position to alter university tuition fees, though he would vote with the government after a three-line whip was ordered.
After his election to the State Duma for the constituency of Pryvitne-Pristan in 2018, Alexei provided unofficial assistance to the Cabinet and acted as a liaison between the government and its new contingent of freshman legislators on behalf of the Prime Minister. He was appointed Alliluyeva's Parliamentary Private Secretary in July 2018. He was elected as primus inter pares of the Progress freshman contingent, and has represented the group while performing his duties as PPS in cabinet meetings. He has been a member of the Science and Technology Select Committee since February 2019.
Alexei has been in a relationship with figure skater and political activist Sofia Dashkova since 2015, after the two met on the staff of then-Deputy Progress leader Matryona Alliluyeva. The two have been seen together often at political rallies in Zolodolina and other major cities, and Dashkova is well known on the ice for her colorful displays regarding certain political issues.
