Danguixh , also known as Chakochnal or Tanjuij in Mutli, Kajbalalik in K’iche, Yuhuacanu in Mixtec, Tsibihai in Otomi, and more generally nicknamed by the local population as Tullan, is a major city in western Mutul. Today it’s the capital of the Kanol Yajawil but in the past it was the capital of the Chik’in Kingdom and then of the short-lived 7th and 8th Dynasties, before the capital was moved to the newly built Uaxak Tz’am. Danguixh continued to be an important urban and economic pole of the Mutul, out-shining Uaxak Tz’am in almost every aspects. It would become the capital of one of the competing Mutals during the Cousins Wars ( 1010 - 1090) until it’s defeat and partial destruction at the hands of the K’iche. In 1150, the Tamub Dynasty allowed for the reconstruction of the city, notably of its religious buildings.

Today, the Kanol Yajaw reside in the city, more specifically in the Kan Sakek Acropolis. The city is also the economic center of the “Western Yajawils”, a major manufacturing center and transportation hub. With close to 4 millions inhabitants, it’s the second largest city of the Mutul.
