Tarper, referred to as South Tarper and legally known as the National Confederation of Tarper, was a fascist confederation in the southern and eastern parts of Tarper during the Second Civil War, and existed from 2000-2002.
History
Dissolution act of 2000
A few months after the Plamyadian Convention declared war on the Second Republic of Tarper, Chancellor Mans Hinder, asked the Party Floor to give grant him total emergency powers. At the beginning of November the Chancellor and his advisors were writing the Dissolution Act of 2000. The act would dissolve the republic into its constituent provinces and place them into direct control of the National Party of Tarper.
Goal
The confederation was created with the goal of hindering judicial action against Mans Hinder and the National Party, the rationale being that each separate member of the confederation would be guilty of war crimes rather than the Second Republic of Tarper as a whole.
Naming
National Confederation is the official name that the country went by, the name comes from the complete control the National Party had over the constituent states. The name "South Tarper" was adopted after the People's Alliance separated itself from the rest of the confederation, as a companion to the People's Alliance's nickname of "North Tarper". Before northern separation South Tarper was known simply as "The Confederation".
Role in the civil war
The National Confederation sought to preserve the fascist government of Mans Hinder and his National Party. It originally fought against the Plamyadien Convention, an alliance composed of Plamyadia, Sanghelios, Comico, Skerieyvos, and the Tarperti Underground. During the war, civil and political rights were at their absolute lowest, industry was re-nationalized and converted to total military production.
Government
The confederation's government was composed of the one-party Party Floor, which controlled the legislatures of its constituent states along with their militias and the party's own paramilitary. The Party Floor also assumed control of the Tarperti Armed Forces until mutiny in 2001.
Historians debate the authenticity of the two civil war confederations, since each exerted so much control over its constituents that the word "confederation" does not quite fit.
Defeat
The mutiny of the Tarperti Armed Forces and its quick merger with the enemy, Tarperti Underground, left the Confederation mostly defenseless. The National Party's paramilitary, state militias, and loyal brigades became the main source of defense for the Confederation. After northern independence, the core territory of Astra was exposed to enemy movements and was quickly overrun. Capture of the capital city of Terraum forced the Confederation to evacuate to Midflow, Austerfluss's capital.
On 20 June, the capital, Midflow, was captured and several top government officials were arrested by the allied forces. Chancellor Mans Hinder had fled the city a couple of days earlier and hid within his bunker underneath the town of Lilhammer, his hometown. On 21 June, allied forces stormed Lilhammer and quickly found the bunker, Tarperti forces infiltrated the bunker in time and stopped Mans Hinder's suicide attempt. Hinder was tried and executed a few weeks later.
A treaty was signed by the now incarcerated government officials and the National Confederation was subsequently annexed into the People's Alliance of Tarper.
Legacy
The Confederation, in recent times, has been used by nationalist remnant groups as a way of recruiting individuals to their parties. The New National Party of Tarper, famously tried to garner a sympathetic opinion of the Confederation by portraying them as poor revolutionaries being stomped by "larger liberal brutes", the New National Party was banned and members incarcerated after the Antifa Bill of 2015.
Non-fascist groups have also used the Confederation for political reasons. Portraying the Confederation as an abhorrent violation of human rights and the eventual goal of fascism. The crimes of the republic and the confederation, along with the actions of remnant groups, were the main influences for the outlawing of far-right groups as stated in the Antifa Bill of 2015.
