The Rook Family is a prominent aristocratic family in Belfras, and is embedded within the country's politics, businesses and other professions. Having risen from the early 18th century as the most powerful of the Belfrasian Empire's Merchantmen runners, the Rook's solidified themselves as a powerful house in the Belfrasian political arena, despite not being ennobled in it's history. As a result of it's early successes and the ownership of Rook Corporation, they have become the richest family in Belfras and one of the richest in the world.
In the early 1900s, the Rook family assisted in the construction of Isn Deslen University and it's subservient colleges throughout the city and the surrounding country side. This has enabled them to send almost every successfully member of the Rook family to the prestigious establishment, regardless of capacity in that particular year. Despite the good will gestures, the family has been at the center of numerous controversies and has been accused of being a modern day mafia.
