The Kouralian Faeryn Command (FAECOM) is a three-star position in the Kouralian Military, held by a General of the Royal Army who has particular affinity for special forces operations. FAECOM is solely concerned with Kouralian Stargate Command, and thus works incredibly closely with the Intelligence and Security Agency. While initially it was envisioned as a research and development project which might yield results in the field of long range (potentially interstellar) logistics, recently it has become a Combat Command involved in efforts against System Lord Sokar.
History
Early
FAECOM was initially established as a Tribune-Grade command in 1987 when the Stargate was first moved to its new location in Faeryn Station. Prior to that the device had lain dormant in a military storage facility. Upon the gate being activated for the first time in 2010 it was upgraded from command of a Tribune to command by a Legate. This saw the facilities of Faeryn Station greatly enhanced to make room for the additional personnel and to provide further security based around an incursion from the gate. The command was further enlarged when two of Kouralia's allies, both Malgrave and Imeriata had been attacked by an interstellar empire on the grounds of misuse of a stargate, and that careful use of the device would be necessary to successfully prosecute a war against the aggressors.
Recent
In Popular Culture
Faeryn Command does not appear in popular culture. Freedom of Information requests have been made about the purpose of Fort Alharyn, and while its role in Training and Command is readily admitted, no mention has ever been made of Faeryn Station within it.
Location
Faeryn Station is located in a secluded corner of the Joint Forces Base Fort Alharyn, the location of the function-based Joint Service Command, Transport Command (TRANCOM). The major nature of Fort Alharyn means that the presence of the senior officers, materiel, foreign personnel and supplies necessary for the secure facility to function do not draw suspicion. This means that Faeryn Station technically comes under the auspices of the Tribune-Grade Castellancy of Fort Alharyn as it is officially a part of Kelly Barracks, which on paper is an overflow site within the borders of the Fort for personnel during times of surge deployment. Fort Alharyn is located in the mountains in the North East of Kouralia, in an area known to be among the furthest from any border or coast. The mountainous terrain increases the site's seclusion and defensibility, while also providing additional security for the underground main structure of Faeryn Station. While Fort Alharyn is close to the titular-named town it is sited in the Dunwych Valley of which Faeryn ravine is an off-shoot, in which Kelly Barracks is located.
Kelly Barracks as a location consists of a number of buildings surrounded by forest on one side of the Faeryn Ravine. Within the limits of the Barracks are two separate fenced perimeters - the outer of which is manned at the gates by men of the Military Watchmen's Corps, and if necessary patrols will respond to incursions. The inner perimeter is passable only through approval from FAECOM or its appointed duty officer, and is patrolled by soldiers from FAECOM's Security Detachment. Within the inner perimeter is a number of barracks, an office building, a canteen, a motor pool, and some hangars and a helipad. A short distance along a road through Kelly Barracks is Faeryn Station itself.
The Hole
Faeryn Station strictly speaking only consists of the main underground structure, colloquially known as The Hole. Access is by a main elevator and a pair of emergency evacuation shafts, all of which are hardened against aerial strikes or incursions by hostile forces, and both evacuation shafts are extensively concealed against observation from the air. The facility is beneath over 600m of mountain, and is protected against nuclear strikes impacting a mile away. The premises beneath the mountain are positioned on shock absorbers with travel between independently resting sections via semi-flexible tubes to limit the effect of movement on operational capability. The facility beneath the surface has sufficient space to quarter the whole Operations, Communications and Research detachment of Faeryn Command along with ammenities such as a gym, indoor range, armoury, swimming pool, library and canteen. Despite this, as a general rule most staff reside in Kelly Barracks as it is easier to stay in for long periods of time. Deep within The Hole is the central chamber, home to the Kouralian Stargate and a plethora of automated defensive weapons.
Organisation
Command Structure
Position | Incumbent Holder | Service | Role |
---|---|---|---|
Air Master-Marshal
Sir Escanyr Franclynn |
All Kouralian combat forces are assigned to Joint Service Commands which ensure greater cooperation and inter-service operational capability while bypassing the service-specific high staffs. Space Command is thus the conduit by which orders are conveyed from the national government to forces in the field. It is also responsible for the provision of manpower, materiel and supplies to the command,
and has ultimate oversight and supervision of Faeryn Command operations.

GOC FAECOM
|
General
Baltra aþ’Alæn |
The General Officer Commanding Faeryn Command is the individual in charge of the combat command. While reporting to Space Command,
the AOC-in-C has little input in operational decision-making except for the most glaringly large-scale operations. The GOC's purview includes not only the stargate programme, but also other means of accessing and launching operations against the Hundred Worlds.

DFOC FAECOM
|
Vice-Admiral
Escanyr Cambuel |
The Deputy Flag Officer Commanding has whatever authority is delegated to them by the GOC, usually acting in their absence, undertaking administrative tasks, and being able to replace the GOC if required.
| |
Castellan Faeryn Station
|
Vice-General
Sir Enræ Chyantyþor Steele |
As the Commander of the Kouralian base that the stargate device is stored within, the Castellan has a great deal of authority regarding any operation that concerns their base. The Castellan is, however only an authority regarding the stargate, as other things do not fall within their purview

Castellan Gofoledas Station
|
Legate of the Air
Fræsya Adyama |
The Castellan of Gofoledas Station is unique in that they are the only Kouralian Castellan responsible for facilities that are on a different planet. There are four different facilities which answer to the Castellan, though their staff is on earth.
