Pervin (/ˈpɜːvɪn/), officially the Duchy of Pervin (Pervinian: Ducado do Pervino), is a sovereign island country located in the central Paisi Ocean. The country is home to 160,600 residents and its area is 1,825 square kilometres (704.64 square miles). Its most populous city is Porteira. The island contains the natural world heritage site, Salgueira National Park. Pervin is a popular holiday destination and a sizeable portion of the economy relies on tourism.

The country is governed under a form of absolute monarchy, with Duke Eliseu II as head of state and head of government. The House of Salmiento has ruled Pervin since 1289.

History

Pervin's name comes from the ancestor word of Perpentium, which literally means The Island of Perpetual Winter.

Arrival of the Salmiento

In 12th century there were husband and wife named Marcelo Zeffari, who was a merchant who could be said to be a trader in the upper middle class and Octarina Salmient, who was a descendant of a noble family born from a very respected family in Canterian Empire. They never gave up on loving and kept fighting until they reached such a long struggle for them to unite. In addition, Marcelo could already be said to be quite successful merchant.

When they had reached a marriage that was long enough, which was about one year, then the couple finally had the only son, named Salmient Zeffari. They were extremely delighted because they had given birth to a son who was very handsome. In the Middle Ages, especially Canterian tradition it was wonderful to have and be blessed with a son.

His father and mother loved Salmient so much that they raised him until he reached adulthood. Marcelo was very fond of his only child and educated Salmient very carefully to be a reliable merchant like his father who was very diligent in trading a very large quantity of goods in those Middle Ages.

Marcelo Zeffari, the father of Salmient Zefarri who was the supporter of the Empress in Canterian Empire, and his son who was a half-noble descendant from his mother, Octarina Salmient, until in the end because of the closeness and support of Marcelo Zeffari to the Empress, finally Salmient Zeffari was given a peerage by a noble family that came from his mother's family. After the noble title - Fidalgo was given to him, Salmient got the right by being allowed to establish House of Salmiento because Salmient was already very mature.

Salmient Zeffari later married to a noble woman, whom identity unknown and had several children. Salmient’s wife is of aristocratic descent just like her mother before who came from aristocratic family as well in Middle Ages.

After several decades’ past, there were two brothers – Alvero and Balthazar. Alvero was a merchant who could be considered rich, married to a foreign noble woman named Disa. She was a daughter, aristocrat from Hatstheput.

Once upon a time a dispute arose between the two brothers, Alvero and Balthazar. It seemed that because of internal affairs in the family, the reason was the difference in parental love for the two children, the conflict between the siblings, making Alvero Salmiento relented and exiled by sailing away from Canterian Empire with his wife, supporters, butlers and bodyguards to Hatstheput.

Due to jealousy and hatred - the differences in parental love between the two children, Alvero was about to be murdered by his elder brother until at some point in the end between the two of them had fought at sea, where Balthazar had pirate supporters because it was triggered that he used to be happy with war, while Alvero was more inclined to trade. Not long after, having discovered the true nature of Balthazar and his pirates to the detriments of many merchants especially from Hatstheput, he had finally been arrested by the official and executed.

After escaping from the devastating Balthazar and the pirates’ attack as well as surviving from the storm, the two latin sail ships carrying eighty-two crews onboard wrecked on an uninhabited island to the further northwest of Hatstheput in around 1289. Then the expedition started to explore the whole hilly island finding that it was indeed uninhabited and there was no native community could be found. Several years settling down and having prosperous on the island, the supporter finally declared Alvero and Disa as the rightful owner of the land, thus Priest Malaquias Alburquerque ordained Alvero a duke of of the island in 1303. Every people were so delighted having fair and kind duke and dedicated to build monument and fortress to protect from the probability of foreign invasion.

Geography

Pervin is rugged and rocky with some low peaks; a volcanic island, dominated by Salgueira: a volcano 1,980 metres (6,496 feet) high and the highest mountain in Pervin. The island covers an area of 1,825 square kilometres (704.64 sq. mi), measures approximately 76.66 kilometres (47.63 mi) north to south, and 35.27 kilometres (21.91 mi) east to west. There are 227.25 kilometres (141.20 mi) of coastline.
