Hastings has already signed a few landmark bills into law during the first few months in office. The main reform that was passed was the Layfetian Climate Change Mitigation and Control Act (also known as the Green Layfet Act) to combat global climate change. After Layfet Air declared bankruptcy, there was a massive gap in the aviation industry, which in turn effected shipping, transportation, industrial production, among other economic actors. In response, Hastings campaigned for and signed the Consumer Development and Protection Act and the Layfetian Public Works Expansion and Economic Recovery Act (also known as Layfetaid) in efforts to combat the recession as well as the long term goal of shifting Layfet away from the stagnant economic outlook to that of growth.

Spencer Wilson Hastings (born September 30, 1996) is an Layfetian politician and who is currently serving as the Executive Minister of Layfet and is a member of the Union Party. Hastings is the youngest person ever elected to the office. She previously served Ambassador to Paisi Union from 2017 to 2019 and Deputy Ambassador to Pervin from 2016 to 2017.

Hastings was born in Windsor, Thentar. She graduated from Windsor High School early with an Associate's Degree in 2014. She then went on to attend the University of Layfet in Tranquility City. While attending, Hastings joined the Layfet Diplomatic Core as a student representative, representing her school. Later in 2015, she went on to be elected Public Affairs Officer. After graduating from the University of Layfet in 2016, she was elected as the director of the entire core, where she worked to greatly expand the impact of the organization and get it more involved in foreign affairs. Her efforts in such a short amount of time led her to be appointed Deputy Ambassador to Pervin in September 2016 by then Executive Minister Edmond Dantes. As one of his last acts before leaving office, Dantes promoted Hastings to Ambassador to the Paisi Union in late 2017. Serving faithfully on many Paisi Union projects including the establishment of three separate Paisi Union organizations (the High Court of the Paisi Union, the Paisi Channel Authority, and the United Paisi Union Ambassadors' Office) Hastings was convinced by the Union Party to run for Executive Minister. After accepting the Union Party nomination and choosing Francisco Lascano-Bravo as her running mate, she narrowly beat out her opponents incumbent Susan Polster of the Progressive Party, Oliver Cromwell of the National Party, and Arthur Benson of the Capitalist Party to be elected Executive Minister of Layfet on December 1st, 2019. She was sworn in as Executive Minister on January 5th, 2020.
