As a former part of the Midlonian Empire, the Freethinker Commonwealth has had a complicated relationship with its colonial forebear. Though there have been two wars between the two nations, a large number of cultural, social and economic ties are the principle defining factors in the current relationship. These include a common language, many joint institutions, a shared Royal Family, and heavily intertwined economies which sees each country as the primary foreign investor in the other.
