The Hydrowirbel, commonly called the 'Rotting Unmen', is a mischievous humanoid animal Bösepenst that inhabits the mountains of modern day Forelis and Maximus states in TECT. It is most commonly identified by its long hair and horrible stench, which is said to be similar to rotting flesh. Not to be mistaken for Sasquatch; Hydrowirbel is said to reach over five feet in height and have long reaching arms. Its sharp teeth are capable of shredding most flesh and hard objects. Hydrowirbel, as the 'Rotting Unmen', is well known for its traits relating to decomposition; its flesh under the thick coat of fur is said to be rotting flesh as well. Hydrowirbel unfortunately rots all food and water it touches; it can rot food and drinking water just by standing closely adjacent to it. Its deep hunger for fresh food and clean water drives it to steal food from humans; it has also been known to break into homes to steal food and water, rot entire fields of crops, devour entire livestock, and even resorting to eating humans. No matter how many times it tries, it cannot ever eat fresh food or drink fresh water because it rots everything either before or after it touches the object; its deeply desired tastes lead it to plague humans, especially for foods like meat and beverages like milk. Hydrowirbel's tendency to rot entire towns of its food supplies has made the Unman more of a pest rather than a dangerous creature, though it is still heavily feared for its tendency to eat humans.
A Hydrowirbel is said to be born when an ape dies of starvation or thirst and regrets its own death; its deep regrets bring it back to life as a Hydrowirbel, a creature doomed to never eat edible food or drink clean water again. Although; its origin is said to have began when travelers in Forelis were attacked by a hairy creature that forcefully removed milk the travelers had been carrying and attempted to drink it; the travelers were said to have died days later of sickness but made notes of the attack and included passages that detailed their food, drinks, and flesh began to rot once the creature got close and attacked them, a doctor was said to have given the name 'Hydrowirbel' to the creature shortly after. Yet another legend details the Unmen rotting an entire rural town's food supply, leaving food half eaten and other food stuffs covered in mold and other rotting features. Scholars say that Hydrowirbel has the curse that causes Hydrolysis of living or former living things such as food, caused by its supernatural energy. Hydrolysis or the cleavage of chemical bonds by the addition of water or other molecules as a form of decomposition, is a common form of breaking down molecules with water molecules; in this case, Hydrowirbel's supernatural energy replaces water molecules in the equation -- though Hydrowirbel's ability to cause food to rot may in fact be caused by disease, spoilage, or infections of bacteria or by other microorganisms may suggest it to be the carrier of such powerful supernatural decomposition organisms.
Science besides the point; Hydrowirbel's decomposing supernatural abilities were blamed often in ancient times for food spoiling and poor water filtration. When food was found half eaten and rotting, people claimed Hydrowirbel had tried to eat the food but was not satisfied after rotting it; though in many cases, rotting foods or crops were often blamed on Hydrowirbel. The legend of Hydrowirbel has been used as an excuse for food spoiling for centuries, and in many cases, its legends began in various places outside its natural habitat -- this suggests that it does not necessarily habitat mountains and its natural home alone. Hydrowirbel is described as a weaker Bösepenst that is hated by both humans and fellow Unmen. Historical mythological records also claim Hydrowirbel was among the Bösepenst to have joined Maximus Forelis' Nachtparade.
