The SM MP5E, (also referred to as the 'Hummer') or simply MP5E, is a magazine fed selective fire sub-machine gun designed and manufactured by Wolf Armaments. It is a Commoner variant of the Heckler & Koch MP5 sub-machine gun (though industry experts claim the design was stolen through reverse engineering variants of said weapon); it was essentially re-engineered for the TECT Armed Forces' particular needs. Similar to how the Israelis re-engineered the AK-47, Wolf Armaments has redesigned the weapon to fit Commoner standard ammunition along with many design changes. The most notable modifications is its barrel change and front body rail system - less notable are the materials used, rail placement, and other slight changes.
Designers primarily wanted a weapon for special forces that was quiet and had customization capable rails; the nature of special forces, both police and military, was close quarters combat, so a swift firing silenced weapon was deemed perfect. MP5E's are very similar to the MP5D variant of the MP5 family in the overall design; it uses the similar built in silencer system and the extending stock. The primary construction of the MP5E is, however, a light tensile strengthen steel, as are its internal mechanisms. The full silenced barrel is made of stainless steel and rifled for the 6.48×28 mm WA CTA. This steel was chosen over cheaper steel for their longer life expectancy, greater accuracy, and easier cleaning. The rifling is much smoother, reducing the chance of fouling; combined with the salt bath, the MP5E has exceptional lifespan and undeniable reliability in the field. Modifications for an over-the-beach (OTB) capability, such as drainage holes in the bolt carrier and buffer system, are used to enable the MP5E to be fired safely after being submerged in water or in other extremely wet conditions. Its selective fire allows for automatic, semiautomatic, and three-round burst selection; ammunition is inserted using a thirty-round or forty-five round detachable box magazine - a sixty round drum magazine is also available for use. Including multiple sights and optics that can be installed using a rail system - the MP5E can attach multiple handles and electronics to the weapon's rail system.
Simunition Conversion
Conversion kits are available for all models of the MP5E; they include a bolt carrier (partly colored blue to distinguish it), blank-firing adapter for firing blanks, and an upper receiver colored blue to distinguish it for its practice use. The standard kit will also include a laser transmitter for laser combat systems to use; such systems would include individual soldiers carrying small laser receivers scattered over their bodies, which detect when the soldier has been illuminated by a firearm's laser. Each laser transmitter would be set to mimic the effective range and potential damage of the weapon on which it is used. Depending on how complex the laser combat system is, trainers can retrieve immediate results and statistics compiled by the system; such examples include readings that give medics a digital readout to determine which first aid method to practice and probability readouts. Using the conversion kit, the MP5E can seamlessly integrate into these laser combat systems.
