Laubenhugel, is the capital City of the Matriarchy of Lunderfrau. It is situated in the Duchy of Ardenne, centraly located on the banks of Lake Laubenhguel, from which the city gets its name. The city is home to many government buildings and offices as well as Laubenhugel Palace, the home and office of the Kaiserin of Lunderfrau. As such, the city is the most politically powerful within the Matriarchy. Initially settled as a small fishing village in 1105, Laubenhugel remained a quiet backwater compared to other cities in Lunderfrau such as Wulfshole, Salzewinde or Moosehausen. The establishment of the Strauss dynasty in 1716 and the subsequent move of the capital from Salzewinde to Laubenhugel in 1724 triggered a massive boom in population. Boasting only 23,000 Residents in 1720, Laubenhugel had over 120,000 by 1760, a 600% gain in just 40 years.
As the seat of the Matriarchy, Laubenhugel is home to many major Government Offices. Notable examples include the Matriarchat Besonderin Diest, the Kaiserwehr, the Chamber of Nobility and others.
