The Unification of Aquitayne would occur in 1366 A.D, when the Vikairuge - under the leadership of Doridian the Fearless - would stage a large scale attack against the thirteen Jarls - then known as the Thirteen Colonies, due to their continued separation - in the hopes of reclaiming their lost territory and homeland. This attack was pinpointed to the northern and southern reaches of the Viking's lands, in the hopes that they would be able to sandwich the Vikings into submission, and have their forces collapse ontop of themselves, leaving them no retreat but the sea.
At first, the surprise Vikairuge attack went off perfectly, with Doridian the Fearless leading the charge against the newly built city of Helm. The attacks were sudden, brutal, and swift; it was difficult for many to find shelter or escape from the battlefield. The Vikairuge would spend the next three months expanding northward and southward into Viking lands before they would be stopped. The act of unification is often given to Jarl Ragnar of Golgoth.
Ragnar went to the neighboring Jarldom which belonged to Uhtred of Helmfast, and requested the unification of their Jarldoms. When these two Jarldoms united under one banner, they were known as the Kingdom of Aquitayne; this was the first sign of nationalization in Aquitayne. With two of the Thirteen Colonies now co-mingled into one entity, Jarls from all over Aquitayne began to send requests to join their alliance, and one by one they too joined and formed the Kingdom of Aquitayne. Now united, the former Jarls began to merge their forces into two large armies, which faced the Vikairuge in two crucial battles that ended the Warring States Period.
When the Warring States Period was over, former Jarl Ragnar was crowned the first King of Aquitayne.
