Israel (Hebrew: יִשְׂרָאֵל, Yisrā'el; Yiddish: ישראל, Ishral; Arabic: إسرائيل, 'Iisrayiyl), officially the State of Israel (Hebrew: מְדִינַת יִשְׂרָאֵל, Medīnat Yisrā'el) is a country in the Middle East, Israel is bordered by Galilee to the north Palestine to the east, by Mediterranean Sea and the Palestinian enclave of Gaza to the west, by Egypt to the southwest and by Jordan to the southeast. The Israeli enclaves of Tiberias and the Golan is bordered by Lebanon to the north, by the Palestinian enclave of Galilee to the west, by Syria to the east and by Jordan to the south. Israel's economic and technological center is Tel Aviv, while its seat of government and proclaimed capital is West Jerusalem, although international recognition of the state's sovereignty over Jerusalem is limited.
