The PS-12 (Pump Shotgun 12 gauge) is a pump action shotgun manufactured by Flynn Firearms, widely used by the public in for self-defence roles and commonly used by the Castarcian Police Force and the Imperial Castarcian Armed Forces.

Development

The PS-12 was the culmination of an idea on part of Thomas Flynn for a universal shotgun. The world had adopted universal rifles and universal tanks that were fit for all possible roles and he aimed to extend this trait to shotguns. Most shotguns of the day were often still double-barrelled and he hoped to revolutionise what a shotgun meant by making and mass producing a modern yet simple and appealing design.

Variants

The PS-12 has had many variants over six decades of production. Interestingly, for a weapon that derives its name from an abbreviation for 'Pump Shotgun 12 Gauge', variants exist that are neither pump action nor fire 12 gauge ammunition, at least as recommended. It is possible to load several types of shot into the PS-12 and still fire perfectly fine but to stay true to the original design and ensure that the weapon is as good as it should be 12 gauge is standard and recommended.

  • PS-12 PDS - Aimed at the civilian market, the PDS (Personal Defence Shotgun) is as simple as it gets and is designed to have lower and manageable recoil for the average person.
  • PS-12 Hunter - Optimised for shooting for sport and against game and wildlife and such.
  • PS-12 Tactical - Aimed at police forces and militaries, the PS-12 Tactical is highly customisable and can be fitted with a wide variety of modifications ranging from optics, mags and stocks.
  • PS-12 X-SA - A semi-automatic shotgun heavily based upon the PS-12 design. It maintains a very similar appearance.
