The Gintaran Commonwealth (Gintaran: Gintaro Sandraugas, GS) is a One-Party Communalist state located off the eastern coast of Yarkopa that was founded in 1910. While it shares no land borders, it's closest maritime neighbors are Vapala to the west, Thokuland to the northeast, Gorcze to the south, Hojmark to the north, and Wybrzania to the west, on the continent. It is situated directly in the Northern Sea. It has a population of 57.5 million as of 1983, and the capitol is Kardas. The current Chairman, or Piriminkas in Gintaran, is Tadas Falkauskas, who was appointed in 1971.
Gintaras is a very highly developed nation with a high income socialist economy. It ranks 2nd in the NAL's ranking of SBP economies. It is a command economy. Gintaras was one of the four founding members of the SBP in 1920.
Gintaras was originally inhabited by Awvenessan-speaking peoples who were conquered by the Dunoci Empire starting in the 1st century AD. The island at this time was majority Awvenessan. After the collapse of the Dunoci at the hands of the Geleans Empire to the South, Gintaras was home to a Dunoci remnant Kingdom that lasted until the invasion of the Bartic tribes centuries later. The Bartics and Awvenessans fought one another for centuries, with most Awvenessans either fleeing, being killed off, or assimilating into the now-majority Bartic culture. As time progressed, the first Gintarans on the Islands fought off invasions from Miytic and Maeniic peoples, some of whom also assimilated into the general populace.
Beginning in the late 1500s, after hearing of exploits by the !Portuguese, !Moroccans, and !Malians in the New World, Gintaras began a quick and expansive colonization program that would bring it around the world, colonizing most of mainstream North Lapiene, which was named after the Gintaran Explorer, Kamile Lapiene. It founded colonies such as Norumbegau, !The USA, !Various African Colonies, and it even occupied roughly 1/3 of !India as well during it's period as a world power. Beginning in the latter half of the 18th century, colonial stresses and a slowly failing agricultural sector in the wake of over-industrialization caused left-wing movements to become increasingly prevalent in the nation. This resulted in a violent uprising on the island of Gintaras in 1909 that resulted in the deposition of the Royal Family and the establishment of a Communalist system, the first major power to adopt such a system. Gintaras was instrumental in the foundation of the SBP and the expansion of it during the Yarkopan Revolution, bringing all of Northern Yorkopa into it's fold.
Gintaras is a member of the SBP and the Internationale. It is also a member of the Connexion Mondiale, joining in 1943. Along with the rest of the SBP, Thudengath has numerous foreign deployments across the world, mainly in !Southern Africa and in Norumbegau. 95% of the country is Gintaran in origin, with the remaining minorities being primarily from other Communalist states.
