The VFL First Division is the third division in the VFL and represents Tier 3 of the Vionna-Frankenlischian football league system. The League is contested by 24 clubs from all over Vionna-Frankenlisch and operates by the standard VFL promotion and relegation system, being placed between the VFL National League and the VFL Second Division. Seasons run from August to May with each team playing 46 matches (playing all 23 other teams both home and away).
The First Division replaced the Third Division of the Vionnan and Frankenlischian football leagues in 1974 as part of Culture Minister John Marton's series of reforms.
