The Anglos were a tribe found on Great Britain, descendants of the Saxons of Germany, and the Engheldets were a tribe found on the Western coast of Norway, descendants of the Kalmar Vikings. The Anglos had travelled on foot to modern-day Scotland, before venturing off in boats to newly-discovered islands in 1200, which are now known as the Faroes, Orkneys and Shetlands, alphabetically. The Engheldets also ventured in longboats to those islands at around the same time, with them meeting at Sandoy Island, in the Faroe Islands, in 1232. They co-operated and formed settlements and most of the two tribes interbred, with the half Anglo-half Engheldet culture and race being locally named as ‘Aenglid.’ Their roots remain as the predominant race in Torshyvn, the capital city of the Faroe region. This name kept its name ever since the independence of a new nation in 1848, where it had evolved into ‘Ænglide,’ therefore naming the Kingdom of Aenglide, which is the official name in English.

In Aenglide, four languages native to the land are spoken. Aenglic, which is known as Ænglik Sprök in Aenglic, is the official language of the nation. It is used for business, trade, and major communication in the nation, being used with official status. In the last census, 99% of Aenglish people know the language and is official in all provinces and municipalities of Aenglide.

The Hööra language, or Höörigieela, spoken by the Hööra people, is a language at the national level, and is official in four provinces and their municipalities, mainly where the Hööra people reside, in the north-central areas of Aenglide. In the last census, it was reported that around 60,000 people spoke Hööra fluently, which equates to ~1.1% of the Aenglish population. Hööra has smaller dialects, which has been said to have minor differences, like Western Hööra and Süpaariland Hööra, but nearly all Hööra people choose to speak the standardised and literary version of Hööra, known as Standard Hööra or simply just Hööra. Because of this, dialects are beginning to dissipate into non-existence.

Aenglide has two regional-level languages; Uqqurapiata and Kuqqarii (ᑯᖅᑲᕇ). Uqqurapiata is spoken on Udlabik Island (Udlabiqqa airaa) where 990 people live. It is classified as an endangered language. Kuqqarii (ᑯᖅᑲᕇ) is spoken on the remote Qaipaŋŋaa Islands (ᙯᐸᙶ ᑭᕿᒃ / Qaipanggaa kiqik) where only 430 people live, and is considered a very endangered language. Kuqqarii uses the Kuqqupiin (ᑯᖅᑯᐲᓐ) written script, which is not classified as alphabet, but rather an Abugida.
