Sauibya, officially the Salamic Republic of Sauibya is a landlocked country located in Bahia. Sauibya is a theocratic monarchy lead by The Wazir, who in turn controls the Supreme Tribal Council. It is bordered by Nuranz and Samastara. It has a total population of eight million people, most of whom live below the international poverty line. It's population is largely spread around in the cities, while small communities live in the large jungles. While the Sauibyan constition claims that Sauibya is a democratic constitutional republic, it is de facto ruled by a man calling himself the "Wazir" (Badawyian for "Advisor".) who enforces a radical salamic government, such as enforcing Sharia Law.
The nation's ethnic groups are largely composed of the Serber (located mostly in the western portions) and the Bonghai, located mostly in the east, each composing 30& of the population. The rest of the population is composed of smaller ethnic tribes and groups along with a sizeable Badawyian population located in the north composed of Nuranz refugees. The majority of the country's government is Serber. Around 90& of the population is salamic.
Sauibya was formed in the early 16th century after Gaullican colonization, which resulted the merging of the nations of Saub and Ibya into a united state. Sauibya has, after de-colonization, been notorious for being isolationist after installing a jihadist government. Sauibya would during the phoney war, invade Samastara unsuccessfully, forcing the ruler at the time, the "Caliph" to flee the country, and was replaced by more openly ethnically Serber advisor the Wazir, who upon taking power derided Saubiya's former uneasy funder Asteria in the war as a "cesspool" and took a hardline anti-DITO stance. Sauibya's foreign relations amounted only to a strange relationship with another former Gaullican colony, Rosselle, which Sauibya has a "special relationship" with. Sauibya also unsuccessly attempted to invade Nuranz in order to "retake" Saubiyan lands.
In recent years, Sauibya has opened up to foreign countries, particularly those in DITO, mainly Asteria and Euclean countries, notably Wazovia. Sauibya has been criticised internationally for it's often-times repressive laws against minorities in the country and the lack of political freedom in the country. As of 2015, Saubiya's government and military has become embroiled in a civil conflict against a secretive paramilitary organization referring to itself as the "Objectivist Army" and a fanatical alleged jihadist eco-terrorist group referring to itself as the Army of Men of the Whistling Sands, referring to collectively as the Sauibyan Civil War.
