Peacock Lake Park is a large park in Tianjing near the Palace of the Grand Assembly and the Field of Heroes. It was once the site of an imperial hunting lodge dating back to the Hong Dynasty, but this palace was mostly destroyed when Tianjing was built and the artificial lake became the center of a park instead. Subsequently, the remnants of the palace that had been left standing became home to the Central Research Office, the presence of which led the park to be heavily shelled during the 6-6 Crisis. The park was restored afterwards, though the burnt-out ruins of the Research Office were destroyed, and became the center for the 1989 Tianjing International Exhibition, with a number of attractions being constructed within it and many international pavilions and themed attractions springing up. This included a temporary structure that was a replica of part of the palace, and after the exhibition a permanent replica of a small portion of the palace was built and the Central Research Office reinstituted into it.

Peacock Lake Park is popular, particularly in the summer, when the lake is often used for swimming and boating. The Porcelain Arrow Tower and the Crystal City Convention Center are also perennial major attractions.
