The Greznean Republican Defense Forces, or GRDF, is the armed force of the Republic of Greznea, and currently also serves as a part of Greznea's domestic security forces. It is currently ranked as the x largest military in x, and the x largest in the world. It is considered the most battle-tested military in x, having fought in numerous civil wars and one international war since it was founded. The GRDF is one of the lowest funded sectors of Greznea, with a majority of the government's annual budget going to ministries such as Education, Healthcare, Science and Production.

The GRDF currently employs a policy of general conscription, which was instituted following the War of the Coalition over two hundred years ago by the military junta as a major military expansion reform. All males and females of military age are drafted for one year into the armed forces for service or alternatively can enroll into public works. Exemptions to conscription are provided to religious authorities and those employed by federal offices. This allows the GRDF to maintain a large pool of reserve forces despite Greznea's small size.

Budget

The Greznean Republican Defense Forces currently recieves a total budget of 22.884 billion GR annually for independent use, however the Ministry of Defense as a whole receives a total of 36.2 billion GR. This budget is considered relatively low in comparison to other nations of Greznea's GDP bracket, such as x, x and x, all of which have an estimated 2% larger budget than Greznea. However, this lower budget is due to Greznea's diversion of funds to other ministries such as the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health following the 2001 coup, along with diversion of massive compensations to the State Monetary Reserve, a newly-born system to keep Greznea from collapse.

This budget has created significant constraints in the GRDF's inventory and operative capabilities, with Greznea's Maritime Command facing repeated cuts of fund allocation and ship number goals. This has also caused Greznea to become increasingly reliant on its foreign allies for equipment and funding, with some estimates getting as high as 50% of total funding being foreign support and equipment imports. However, as Greznea's political situation comes back into full stability, President Nykarovod has recently released a budgetary plan known as the Modern Adaptability Program, which aims to increase the Ministry of Defense's total yearly budget by .3% every year to match the rapidly growing economy, and address the serious security concerns held by the ministry, by 2025.
