The Volynian Air and Space Force (AAE) (Volynian: Повітряно-космічні війська Волині) is the air and space force of the Volynian Armed Forces. It was established as the Volynian Air Force after Volyna regained independence in 1947. On 10 September 2020, it assumed its current name, the Volynian Air and Space Force, to reflect an "evolution of its mission" into the area of outer space.
The number of aircraft in service with the Volynian Air and Space Force varies depending on the source; the Volynian Ministry of Defence gives a figure of 1,763 aircraft in 2020. According to 2021 data, this figure includes 563 combat aircraft: 308 Tokar Zhar-ptytsya and 255 Tokar Burya. As of 2021, the Volynian Air and Space Force employs a total of 116,840 regular personnel, with a reserve element of XXXX in 2014.
The Volynian Air and Space Forces is regarded as one of the best in the world, boasting advanced technology such as fourth-generation fighters. It also one of the few to employ nuclear weapons, forming a key component in the country's strategic independent nuclear deterrence.
The Chief of Staff of the Volynian Air and Space Force (CEMAAE) is a direct subordinate of the Chief of the Defence Staff (CEMA), a high-ranking military officer who in turn answers to the civilian Minister of the Armed Forces.
