Human habitation of the territory that would become Nuvania has been estimated to have been confirmed as early as 41,000 years before present, with some of the oldest pottery in Asteria Inferior found at a number of sites in the Arucian Range, the largest being the Poebenza and Zipakwirë sites in the Arucian Range. These nomadic peoples eventually settled in Nuvania, establishing the many indigenous cultures and civilisations that existed prior to Euclean colonisation.
From these early settlers arose a number of cultures that would inhabit Nuvania prior to the arrival of Eucleans. One of the earliest to arise out of these settlements was the Inza culture, whose origins date to around 3300 BCE. The Inza predominantly inhabited the southern highlands of the Great Asterian Range in southern Nuvania, and were one of the longest extant cultures in Nuvania in the pre-Euclean period. They inhabited areas close to other cultures and tribes, particularly the Pajaan to the southwest and the Tumako to the south along the coast close to the border with Belmonte. The Kalima and Kimbaja inhabited the Great Asterian Range further to the west, with some influences on the coastal peoples who lived there.
Nuvania's northern coastline was inhabited by a range of peoples and cultures. In the northwest, the predominant culture was the Zenû, which was known for goldworking and extensive waterworks of the rivers in the region, with the Zenû being the largest and most advanced culture in the northwest of Nuvania. Further east, the Tairona inhabited a region consisting of modern-day Etten, their domain extending from the coast well into the highlands of the North Asterian Range, border with the Mwiska that lived to the south and southwest of them. Between the Zenû and Tairona were the Mokana peoples, a subgroup of the Kalina that inhabited a wide area of the north coast of Asteria Inferior. In particular, four tribes occupies the area between modern day Pietersburg and the domain of the Tairona; the Barû, the Kalamari, the Karex, the Kospike, and the Jurbako.
Central Nuvania was inhabited by a number of tribes, including the Akwe, Akuwe, Awen, Ini, Krahô, and Rikbaktsa. These tribes were less developed than those in the mountains or along the coast, and share a common language family. The tribes that inhabited central Nuvania were known for their body painting, colourful headdresses made from parrot feathers, as well as body modifications.

Vistulzka, officially the Orthodox Republic of Vistulzka, often times called the Orthodox Republic is a sovereign country located in Central Atalan. Consisting of 54 states called Voivodeships, Vistulzka is considered to be a regional power within Central Atalan and competes with its eastern bordering neighbor Hetumoger for economic dominance in the region. It is the largest country within Central Atalan, covering over 572,000km2. Vistulzka is founding member of the Atalan Sovereign Congress. Vistulzka also holds two island colonies within Ozarkus and Alleghenus: Casimir and Nowa Kosciuszko.

Vistulzka has been inhabited since the ice age with various sets of artifacts dating back to the Proto-Atalan period of Atalan when the area was dominated by various Hunter-gatherers cultures. Vistulzka in the early eigth century was a mix of various tribes that were described as Lechites. Two of these dominant tribes jumpstarted early statehood in 847 by unifying the various tribes under the banner of the Duchy of Lechia. These tribes, the Viswe and Gorale were both followers of Orthodox Seguacism and adopted it as the Duchy's official religion, turning away from their roots of Central Atalan paganism. During the period between the eighth and ninth century, Atalan was embroiled in the Rush of Statedom, where many tribes sought to gain political legitimacy and create their own larger states. At the time, the Duchy of Lechia was the dominant power in Central Atalan. In 953, Lechia unified with the First Kingdom of Hetumoger which lied to its western border, creating the Lechia-Hetumoger Kingdom. Lechia-Hetumoger was the largest power in the entirity of all of Atalan during this time. In 1211, Lechia-Hetumoger entered the Atalan Heropleven, a cultural revival that marked a change of internal politics of the Kingdom. This change was primarily liberal where the Kingdom transformed into the Lechia-Hetumoger Noble Republic, a political system that utilized the idea of a Noble Republic. In 1479, the political situation in Lechia-Hetumoger had transformed vastly and the two countries no longer held semblance and collapsed. The collapse created two separate noble classes in each country, the Nemesseg in the Second Kingdom of Hetumoger and the Szlachta in the Noble Republic of Lechia.

Vistulzka has a developed market and is considered to be a regional power alongside Hetumoger. Officially, Vistulzka is still considered to be an Orthodox Seguacistic nation. However, Vistulzka provides both freedom of religion and over high standard of human rights. Vistulzka is a founding member of the Atalan Sovereign Congress, which one of the Five Councils and is a participant of the University System of Atalan.

History

Government

The Orthodox Republic of Vistulzka is a Unitary Semi-Presidential Republic that is governed on the basis of multi-party democracy that utilizes a Common Government, a form of government that emerged during the Atalan Political Heropleven. Its government is codified by the 1921 Constitution of Vistulzka which is considered to be the governing principle and establishing document of Vistulzka. Vistulzka's government takes several ideas from Orthodoxist Republicanism, one of the many new political ideas formed during the Political Heropleven. Vistulzka utilizes three branches of government, both "Separate but intertwined" government where all branches of the government were intertwined with each other.

Officially, the Office of the President is elected within the Sjem, where the members of the Sjem will elected a member of their own. The powers of the president are executive in nature and are split between the office and the Sjem. The office of the President is designed by the 1921 Constitution to have significant influence and power over the state, and is reponsible for the the appointment of the Marshal and the Ducal Council, the executive branch's cabinet. The Marshal and the Ducal Council are responsible to answering to daily affairs to the Sjem. The President of Vistulzka is considered to have a more ceremonial role if the Marshal and the Ducal Council are able to function and hold support within the Sjem. However, if the Sjem initiate a censure vote, the powers of the Marshal and the Ducal Council are significantly diminished. Under this, the Sjem can create a Council of Confidence which will vacate the office of the Marshal and place those responsibilities on the Ducal Council's Parliamentarian
