Ostrogslav (Coysyakka: Острогслав, Glorious Hall of Stone) is the largest city, municipal, economic, and royal capital in the Hetmanate of Dniegua. The 3rd oldest major city in Dniegua and 8th in Skandara, Ostrogslav has remained continuously populated for 2300 years. With some 9,630,000 people in the overall Urban area, the Ostrogslav proper is one of the largest cities in Pardes. Spread on the shores of the Azov river and the Bay of Berkilan on the Urgan Sea, Ostrogslav is the cultural, media, political, and economic centre of Dniegua. The Ostrogslav region alone accounts for some 20% of the country's GDP, and is among the top 10 regions in Skandera by GDP per capita. It is an important global city, and among the main centres for corporate headquarters in the Southern region. The city urban and metro areas are home to some of the worlds top educational centers, and is home to the Dnieguan college of War at Windhelm, the largest military school in the world. In addition, two Enterprise Diamond 500 companies are headquartered in Ostrogslav. The Ostrogslav metro, which opened in 1956, is one of the most elaborate and decorated in the world, and is often called the largest art gallery in the world. Ostrogslav is the birthplace of Magic realism under authors such as Ernst Holmström and Kristina Söderberg, the origin of Skandar Metal and Skandar Folk music.

Ostrogslav serves as the head of the Dnieguan Hetmanate and its current head of house, Folke Venevitinov, King of Dniegua; the Prime Minister, Jarl Elias Källström, and Hetman-General Bogdan Razumtsky both reside in Ostrogslav as provisional heads of the Civilian and Military government, respectively. As such, most federal agencies capitals call Ostrogslav home. Government heads are found in the Rikuma (upper house) and Unkalrika (Lower House), located in the cities capital district. Ostrogslavs Old town is encased in walls, surrounding some square kilometers of the city.

History

Ostrogslav was originally settled sometime around 3rd century BC, possibly as a fishing village. Due to its proximity to volcanic hot springs and flowing water, it is likely the village prospered throughout the year due to access to warm water year round, thus converting a number of what would have otherwise been vastly nomadic Dnieguan people into traders. The first semblance of government came around the year 200 A.D, when the town chartered a Jarl from a local banking clan as the political cheif of the settlement, as evidenced by the Ostrogslav Parchment, an ancient document found ion 1864 that details the early history of the city.
