NTT

NTT is an initialism for the Nahuatl term Neyeyecoliztli Tlayolteohuilli Tlaxeloliztli meaning "experimental design division", a type of state operated engineering and design firm usually in the advanced technology sectors. The NTT program was established by the Zacapine government in the 1920s to for the purposes of advancing technology in areas overlooked by commercial engineering firms concerned with the immediate viability of potential designs, producing innovative and unorthodox designs and technological advancements that could be put to use across many industrial sectors of the Zacapine economy. The Zacapine military establishment quickly co-opted the NTT program as a vehicle for the pursuit of weapons engineering and the advancement of technology for military applications. An NTT firm is relatively small-scale, consisting of a design team and sufficient resources to produce working prototypes of their designs for military proposals and testing for civilian applications.

The number of active NTTs expanded quickly between 1944 and 1964 during the era of diversification and expansion of the Zacapine industry, even becoming active in the Zacapine space exploration program with research and development in the field of aerospace. By the 1990s however, the number of NTT firms producing new designs began to present a significant drain on the state coffers of the United Zacapine Republics. This prompted the state to pursue a more intensive monetization scheme for its NTT firms and the designs they produce, creating a uniform system for the collection of a share of profits from calpolli corporations utilizing NTT-formulated design documents. In 1999, the Zacapine authorized the practice of contracting the services of NTT designers internationally as engineering firms as an additional means to compensate for their operating costs. The resulting increase in workload reduced the throughput of many NTTs, requiring them to increase their design staff and grow in size in order to handle the for-profit engineering contracts as well as their own internal projects.
