Cuba (Manifest Destiny)

Cuba (CU) is a US state located in the Caribbean and is the largest island in the Greater Antilles island chain. Cuba is separated from the rest of the United States by the ninety-miles of the Peninsular Strait, under which runs the recently completed Cuba-East Florida Transit Tunnel – a high-speed rail line linking Key West in East Florida with San Carlos in Cuba – frequently dubbed the 'American Chunnel'. At roughly a hundred miles in length (with ninety miles under the waters of the Peninsular Strait), the C-STT is the longest undersea tunnel in the world, at nearly three times the length of the Columbia-Washington Juan de Fuca Tunnel and Europe's Channel Tunnel.

Admitted to the Union as the ??th state on August 2, 1848, Cuba was acquired from Spain through the Adams-Onis Treaty of 1819, which also officially transferred Seminole and the remainder of Florida to American control and defined the western extent of the Louisiana Purchase.
