The House of Owen (sometimes spelt Bowen and originally spelt Owain) is the Welsh-born royal dynasty that ruled BlakeIsHere (known until 1739 as Nova Cambria) from the establishment of the Dukedom of Nova Cambria by Gwythyr ap Iorwerth (Anglicised as "Victor Edmundson") in 1512 until the abolishment of the monarchy by Elijah Descoteaux after the 1938 BlakeIsHere coup. Nova Cambria was ruled by the Owen dynasty as the Duke of Nova Cambria from 1512, but in 1593 it became an archduchy, in 1630 a principality and in 1703 a kingdom.
But after the Protestant Reformation, a major break happened due to religious differences between the catholic and protestant branches. Afterwards, the Catholic branch continued to be known as the House of Owen and would continue to rule BlakeIsHere until the monarchy's abolition, admit under the last monarch, Edward IV, under the Colwyn cadet branch, the protestant branch on the other hand, as well as being connected to French ancestry became known as the House of Owen-Orléans.
The House of Owen, then led by Edward IV (nicknamed "Edward the Last") was deposed in the 1938 BlakeIsHere military coup, led by Elijah Descoteaux, who abolished the monarchy in favour of a one-party totalitarian dictatorship. The current pretender is Frederick, Duke of New Gower (born Frederick Andrew Christian George Bowen), who supporters know as Frederick IV, while within the Owen-Orléans cadet branch is led by Henri, Lord of Cemaes (born Henri Louis Jean Bowen-Orléans) or Henry III.
