Angleter officially known as the Commonwealth of Angleter is a country in West Europe, located in the British isles, and comprising of two major islands being Great Britain and Ireland. The capital city is Downton, after it was relocated from London in 2669.
History
The Abdication of the House of Windsor in 2660 marked a turning point in Angleter's history. Queen Victoria XXIV, the reigning monarch, chose to abdicate due to health issues and concerns about the monarchy's relevance in the modern age. With her departure, a new era began for Angleter.
The nation transitioned into a constitutional republic, with a President as the head of state. The first President of Angleter, Henry Harrington, was elected in a popular vote, bringing forth a wave of political and social reforms. The old aristocratic system was dismantled, and power was more evenly distributed among the citizens. The House of Lords was abolished by a president decree and turned into a House for Tea Parties.
Under President Harrington's leadership, Angleter experienced a period of rapid industrialization and technological advancement. The economy boomed as new industries emerged, and the nation became a major player in global trade. The newfound prosperity led to improved living standards for many citizens, with advancements in healthcare, education, and infrastructure.
As Angleter grew in influence, it also faced its share of challenges. The nation became embroiled in various conflicts and territorial disputes, both within its borders and on the international stage. The Angleterian military transformed into a formidable force, equipped with advanced weaponry and technologies.
In the year 2700, Angleter faced a severe global crisis when climate change reached a tipping point. Rising sea levels and extreme weather events threatened coastal regions, and the nation had to invest heavily in climate adaptation and mitigation strategies. Angleter became a global leader in sustainable technologies, pioneering efforts to combat climate change and reduce carbon emissions.
Throughout the centuries, Angleter remained a bastion of democracy and human rights. The nation promoted equality and tolerance, embracing diversity and fostering an inclusive society. The arts and sciences flourished, with Angleterian artists, writers, and scientists making significant contributions to their respective fields.
In the 28th century, Angleter joined a coalition of nations dedicated to exploring and colonizing space. The Angleterian Space Agency (ASA) embarked on ambitious missions to the moon, Mars, and beyond, pushing the boundaries of human knowledge and establishing colonies in space.
By the year 2900, Angleter had become a leading global power, respected for its technological prowess, commitment to democracy, and sustainable practices. The nation continued to play a significant role in shaping international policies, addressing global challenges, and promoting peace and stability.
As the years passed, Angleter continued to evolve and adapt to changing times. New generations emerged, each leaving their mark on the nation's history. The story of Angleter is one of resilience, progress, and the enduring spirit of its people—a testament to the power of a nation's vision and the determination to shape a better future.
Geography
The climate in most of Angleter is oceanic type, bordering subarctic. The effects of global warming and climate change hit Angleter with the passing of centuries, but making the weather colder and rainier in most of the country. The Alba Highlands are by far the coldest part of the country, with an average temperature well below the freezing point.
