The Kot-diji Party (Dravidian: Kaska Kot-diji, KDP), previously known as the Mel-akkam Akali Dal (MAD; Punjabi for "Mel-akkan Army of God") is a regionalist political party in Mel-akkam. Founded in 1920 as a regional branch of the party Shiromani Akali Dal, the two parties gradually drifted apart, culminating in the renaming of the MAD to the KDP in 1997. The party advocates for the interests of the Sikh community of Mel-akkam, and is the only regional party in Mel-akkam that has seen significant success on a national scale.
