The Cabinet of Esthursia (Atlish: Redery ofþ Esþursland) is the senior decision-making body of Esthursia, split between the Redery and Ministry in order of descending precedence. It is chaired by the Forethane, and consists of the heads of departments (rederen), who are constitutionally obliged to be elected to the Houses of Berworth as representatives themselves. Each Cabinet is approved through a vote of affirmation.
The current Cabinet has been headed by Forethane Harold Osborne since January 2015, and his deputy, Afterthane Jeremy Wilson, since November 2023.
History
Cabinets have been integral to governance in Esthursia since at least the Popular Revolution, which established a system of representative democracy close to that of the modern day. First Ministers would typically appoint ministers to their Cabinet, which would not have set roles but instead collectively come to decisions on key topics, serving as an advisory body with significant influence. Edward Bourne, at the turn of the 18th-19th century, centralised the notion that Cabinet ministers should have individual roles.
George Asmont, upon ascending to the democratised House of Thanes in 1933, established a two-tier system of cabinet governance, whereby the upper tier was solely established in the upper house, and the existing Ministry would serve below that of the new Redery, comprised almost solely of ministers from the lower house.

Composition
The Forethane determines all members of the Cabinet, including the delegated roles for each, however both legislatures must assert the confidence of the new Cabinet for it to be formally delegated power. There is a cap of 30 reeves (senior ministers) who may receive a salary, and it has been convention since the formation of the two-tier cabinet system in the 1930s that the upper tier always comes from the upper house, and the lower tier usually from the lower house, though some ministers may attend the Redery (e.g. the Minister to the AN).
Current cabinet
The Social Democrats have formed government since 2015, however the current Cabinet is a part of the fifth Osborne ministry, a majority Social Democratic government established on 1 November, 2023 following the end of the Social Democratic-Green-Left coalition, replacing the Fourth Osborne ministry established after the September 2022 Esthursian general election, in which the Social Democrats formed a coalition government.
